Brian W. Martin, known these days as B.W. comes from Milton, Ontario. He attended Milton District High School graduating in 1972.
Brian began his broadcast career in 1973 at CKNR AM, Elliot Lake and CJNR AM, Blind River, a satellite. He served both stations as Program Director, Sports Director and Play-by-Play Announcer.
Later in 1973 he found his way out to Medicine Hat, landing at CHAT AM as an on-air host. He returned to Ontario in 1974 landing in Sault Ste. Marie at CKCY AM. In 1977 Brian moved over to CFYN AM in that city filling an announcer position and serving as Music Director.
B.W. was in Sudbury before the end of 1977 and on the air at CKSO AM. Throughout Brian’s tenure he would serve in a number of capacities including news anchor, music director and announcer while the station would go through various formats, branding, call letter changes and corporate owners. CKSO AM would assume the call letters, CIGM AM until its transmitter was turned off permanently at midnight on August 24, 2009.
Brian Martin moved over to a new FM station branded as KICX Hot New Country 91.7 to handle afternoon news. He left in September of 2017. Brian is retired from the business of radio, at least for now. He studied Records Management at Cambrian College where he also took a computer tech repair course.
Currently he resides in Chelmsford about 20 kms northwest of Sudbury.
