Ron Tufts arrived on the scene at CKSO AM in the late 1970's when the station converted to an evening and overnight country format. Ron brought previous experience as host of a country music program. He remained at CKSO for a few years before moving on to his home area of Niagara making a stop at 1470 CHOW.
In the early 1980's Ron and his family moved back up north for two years to work at CKAT. The next stop was in Kingston to do mornings at CKWS but Telemedia enticed Ron to return to the Gateway of the North where he programed CFCH for three years. The company then sent him to Sault Ste. Marine when it purchased CFNY/CHAS FM. Telemedia needed Ron next in Orillia where he remained for five years.
Ron and his family moved back to Niagara to take care of his aging parents.
Today with about 25 years of experience in broadcasting covering all aspects from On-Air Personality to Station Management and Sales he teaches Radio and TV Presentation at Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology in Welland, Ontario. He is a member of the Faculty of The Broadcasting Department. He has been at Niagara for about 15 years now.
Although born and raised in the Southern Ontario, the Tufts family misses the North, and so much so that they purchased a cottage in Nipissing's West Arm.
